Putting Minnesota Values back to work means empowering students, parents and teachers.

Minnesotans know we can never afford to be second to anyone in education. Adequate funding for education has always been a priority for Minnesota. We have strongly supported education and we benefit from it as a state.

Although funding is an important measuring stick for how our schools are doing, we must do a better job of prioritizing how the money is spent. Stillwater residents recently passed a bonding referendum to lessen drastic cuts to programming and staff. Many people were surprised to learn that a decision was then made to purchase new Apple Laptop Computers for seventh, eighth and ninth grade students. Clearly, most parents would have made a more sensible spending decision. The last thing most parents want is to replace their kid’s teacher time with screen time.

The most important resource in a school is a teacher. No tool can ever take the place of an excellent teacher. That is why I want to work for:

  • Smaller Class Size
  • Individualized Learning Plans tailored to each student
  • Spending authority for Principals and Teachers
  • A Fair Funding Formula for our Kids
