Putting Minnesota Values back to work means empowering students, parents and teachers. ![]() Matt Dean reads to students. Minnesotans know we can never afford to be second to anyone in education. Adequate funding for education has always been a priority for Minnesota. We have strongly supported education and we benefit from it as a state. Although funding is an important measuring stick for how our schools are doing, we must do a better job of prioritizing how the money is spent. Stillwater residents recently passed a bonding referendum to lessen drastic cuts to programming and staff. Many people were surprised to learn that a decision was then made to purchase new Apple Laptop Computers for seventh, eighth and ninth grade students. Clearly, most parents would have made a more sensible spending decision. The last thing most parents want is to replace their kid’s teacher time with screen time. The most important resource in a school is a teacher. No tool can ever take the place of an excellent teacher. That is why I want to work for:
