Putting Minnesota Values Back to Work means protecting our heritage of preservation. ![]() Protect our environment and heritage for our kids We value the treasures of our forests and lakes. My grandpa started hunting and fishing Steamboat Bay on Leech Lake in the early 1930s with his dad. At 92, he still fishes there. Growing up, that is where my dad taught me to hunt and fish. Last summer, my daughter caught her first fish in Steamboat Bay with her grandpa. My son looks forward to joining his cousins as the fifth generation to hunt ducks in the bay. During the 1980s, the ducks stopped coming. The stringers of fish became smaller and getting skunked was no longer a sin. We need to preserve the environment so that our kids and theirs can enjoy it as much as we did growing up. Please help me preserve our heritage.
